You’ve probably been told many times by well meaning parents and teachers- “It’s not all about you!” However, as it turns out, your life actually is all about you- just not in the way you may have thought. The way you experience your life and everyone in it is all about your current level of perception. We are easily annoyed by some people and easily impressed by others. Why? Good question.
What Annoys You Most In Others is What You Need To Work On In Yourself
What You Admire Most In Others is What You Need to Develop In Yourself.
Once we understand that the way we experience everyone in our lives is our own projection of them- the part of them that we project through our own lens, this statement starts to make more sense. It’s another way of saying that we see the world not as it is, but as we are. We see other people in our world- not as they really are, but as we are- as we are able to perceive them to be. So the very things that annoy us the most in others are the very things we most need to work on in ourselves. Likewise, the very things we most admire in others are the very things we need to develop in ourselves.
Before this realization we get easily annoyed by some and easily impressed by others- but it doesn’t help us grow. But once we realize that it’s all just our own projection- all coming through our own lens, then we stand a chance of learning and growing.
Questions to Ponder
What or who really annoyed me today or this week? Why did that annoy me? What does that teach me about what I need to work on in my own life?
What or who really impressed me this week? Why did that impress me? What does that teach me about what I need to develop more in my own life?
