Emotions

Our emotions play a big role in our lives-
but for many of us the role they play is too much the
improper role of master of our behavior and not enough the
proper role of trusted informant of what we are placing the
creative power of our attention on and thus are in the process
of creating in the invisible world of spirit and
mind.
While it may be fine for infants and
little children to let their emotions dictate their behavior,
it is not a sign of a spiritually mature person to let
their behavior be at the mercy of their
emotions. On the other hand, even for most adults who
have developed a socially responsible level of freedom between
emotion and behavior, it is the rare individual who really
understands how useful emotions can be in guiding them in the
process of their spiritual growth.
While the topic of emotions is a complex one, I
will attempt to share in various articles referenced below
some clarity that I have gained as I have come to understand
more about the proper function, purpose and use of
our emotions to aid in our spiritual growth. Due to the
interconnecting nature of all the parts of the DAS circle,
these articles will address other areas of the circle as well-
especially mind and beliefs, and Spirit.
Like in all areas, my own understanding of
emotions and their proper and improper roles in our spiritual
growth continues to develop as I go.
The more of our attention we've been able to
free up from the other areas of life in the DAS circle, the
better we'll be able to understand and use our emotions as the
tool they were meant to be for our spiritual growth.

John
Groberg writes on a wide variety of topics related to personal
and spiritual growth. His slogan is Grow. By Choice™. His
articles draw out principles of personal and spiritual growth
common to the world’s ancient wisdom and spiritual texts as
well as many of the great philosophers, poets, and writers of
ancient and modern times. These principles are then put to the
test in his own life with an emphasis on simple, sustainable
practices we can apply in our daily lives to more effectively
deal with the stresses and struggles of modern life and to more
fully realize the benefits of deliberate growth. John developed
a model called the Divine-Align-Shine model as a way of
visually organizing the principles, practices and the overall
process of personal and spiritual growth. His writings are
